After the previous theoretical and practical experiences with SP, Sandra sees it as a possible highly efficient tool in the unique intersection of mental training, hypno- and psychotherapy. It can be used in all three areas and can be ideally complemented with the special knowledge of the individual areas.
1. SP and mental training:
If the mental trainer does not want to present SP as an independent hypnotic tool in his/her work, most NLP formats can be ideally extended by the principle of "superconsciousness", for example in "parts work" and work with "ego-states". Sandra herself has also successfully combined and extended "Mindscaping", the "Core Transformation", the "Circle of Excellence" and some other NLP formats with the SP principle.
Conversely, it is also easy to incorporate certain NLP formats at certain points in the SP and to work on them with the help of the "superconscious" much more quickly and efficiently than would be the case without its help. Here Sandra often uses, among other things, work with the "timeline", "parts work", work in the "core state", work with the submodalities, etc. It is important to say: Sandra always looks at the entire SP process from an NLP point of view. This starts with the pre-talk, the inclusion of the work with submodalities, the meta-model of language, hypnotic language patterns, the calibration process, the pacing & loading and much more.
Even if this was certainly not the intention of the inventor of the SP, Ines Simpson - in the eyes of the author, the entire SP is a single, ingenious NLP format and for this reason should definitely be in the toolbox of all mental trainers!
2. SP and hypnotherapy:
In the field of hypnotherapy, SP is unbeatable, especially in trauma work. There are a number of other hypnosis formats (for example, the "magic meadow", the "yager method", and many more) that are also excellent for this. In Sandra's opinion, the concept of "superconsciousness", which makes many of the "clearing up" tasks extremely easier, much faster and more efficient, and above all the fact that trauma patients do not necessarily have to remember and consciously experience their traumatic experiences again in order to be freed from them, speaks extremely positively for the use of SP.
Again, various other hypnosis techniques can be easily integrated into SP (for example, extensive regression work, clinical hypnosis, medical hypnosis, etc.). It is important to note that suggestions must not be part of the SP and must always be given only in consultation with the "superconscious".
3. SP and psychotherapy:
The psychotherapists or psychiatrists who already use SP in their practices are clearly taken with this instrument. Sandra sees great potential for development here. Especially since there are now enough healing successes in the hypnotherapeutic field, but these are reluctantly made public for legal reasons. She would like to see interdisciplinary cooperation between hypnotherapists and psychotherapists, so that the very best from both fields can flow together and synthesise something new. To stay in the field of trauma work, the NARM model, for example, is ideal for this. Both NARM and SP follow the same healing steps, only with different means.
One final consideration: if the basic theoretical assumptions of SP are correct, this could also have striking effects on the self-understanding of psychotherapy. For then (severe) mental disorders could be understood as a kind of misdirection, perversion of a positive "repair" mechanism of our brain/body, which was originally intended for healing and is actually "good" for us. If this were indeed true, a logical consequence would follow with far-reaching consequences: namely that, for example, depression, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders, DID, BPD, NPD, schizophrenia, epilepsy and the like should be curable by hypnosis, at least in mild to moderate cases. Because some of these (severe) mental disorders would then only be a kind of "misdirection", "perversion" of a positive mechanism* of our brain, which would originally be used for self-healing and is "good" for all of us. (The only restriction: the clients must be hypnotisable or rapport must be possible). An extremely provocative but thoroughly appealing thesis that should ideally be explored in an interdisciplinary way.
* A vivid example of a "misdirection, perversion" would be an autoimmune disease where the "good" immune system suddenly has a harmful effect on the person.
CONCLUSION
Her not only practical but also theoretical involvement with the Simpson Protocol developed for Sandra as an extremely interesting, multi-layered journey into highly fascinating territories. Metaphorically speaking, it forced her to study her own mental "landcars" once again, to go through them, to explore many unknown terrains and creatures, to expand known paths, to create new connections, to fill in old ditches, to redefine certain boundaries, to clear areas, clearing land, reclaiming new land, building towns and villages, taming and harnessing rivers, admiring the beauty of the environment and its inhabitants, meeting many new travel companions and simply setting out with confidence on an adventurous, fun and educational journey. It felt like a "waltz", where skilled craftsmen used to go to foreign countries to perfect their craft, get to know the world and many new people, and finally settle down exactly where it suited them and where they felt "at home".
Their present work was intended to "get to the bottom of" the instrument SP from the mental trainer's point of view, to be able to better assess and also use it for their own mental trainer work, as well as to explore its limits. The results have clearly exceeded Sandra's expectations within a relatively short time. She is particularly fascinated by the fact that the SP work on emotional topics brought so many - unexpected and primarily not(!) intended - results on the physical level as an additional gain.
One consequence of this work is that Sandra now considers SP to be her most important tool in her mental trainer's kit and uses it regularly. And she does so in the most diverse combinations: Sometimes as a supplement in common NLP formats, sometimes as "classic" SP (with or without NLP supplements) or as one of the special or self-written SP programmes, with overt/covert hypnosis or entirely without (intentional) hypnosis.
The most important thing is to bring this special "trust" into the process during a session and to keep one's own mental openness; to leave all judgements, evaluations, expectations out of it and to concentrate on the impulses of the clients, who thus determine the process and course of the session and finally to let one's own intuition flow into it.
The theoretical understanding of SP has once again opened up deeper levels of understanding and meaning for various NLP formats for the author and also makes it easier for her to mix and "blend" various formats when this seems ideal for the clients.
All in all, SP has become an indispensable part of her professional work and everyday life and represents a considerable enrichment and broadening of her intellectual horizons, as this process raises many more questions than it answers, but unexpectedly solves many of the clients' problems. An intellectually and emotionally challenging "puzzle" to which the author would like to contribute considerable pieces in the coming years.
As already mentioned several times in different places, the author wishes that the network of "non-specialist" experts expands significantly and that SP takes the next hurdle - clean case studies and a scientific evaluation. She also hopes that many more mental trainers will discover and use this highly efficient tool for their work and that it will become a natural part of the "mental training of the future" on a "next level".
In this sense: "Superconsciousness" do whatever has to be done for it!
